UC Digi Assist Kiosk is a concept proposal that results from intensive research into Academic Inequality and challenges among UC students, especially international students.

INTERVIEWS & SYNTHESIS

We set our goal to investigate inequality experienced by international students at University of Cincinnati. We interviewed 7 students and 1 UC Internaltional staff.


Data gathered from the interviews are synthesized into opportunities. A total of 7 overarching opportunities are created.

DESIGN PRINCIPLES GENERATION

The opportunities are developed in to design princicples.

IDEATION

From initial design principles, concept sketching, storyboarding, and mind mapping are used to generate various ideas.

OPPORTUNITY MAPPING

Ideas generated are mapped into opportunity mapping to evaluate cost to value ratio, and implementation possibility of each ideas.

IMPLEMENTATION TIMELINE MAPPING

As the goal is to provide implementation strategy, we found it is important to evaluate implementation timeline of each concept.

IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY MAP

Opportunity map and implementation map are combined together to created an comprehensive look of implementation time, resource, and value of each ideas.

PROPOSAL STRATEGY MAP

A proposal strategy map is created. The map is designed to shown a journey of internationals, with opportunity for interventions learned from their insights. And how each opportynity leads to interventions.


The map also shown possible changes in emotion of students if each intervention are implemented.

DIGI-ASSIT

Lastly, a concept of digital assistant kiosk is selected to be developed as an example intervention. The goal of the kiosk is to provide students with up-to-date information in many aspects to help student navigate the campus with more confident.
